The unconventional life of a legendary eccentric who recited Shakespeare for a dollar on the streets of Sydney and rode taxis …

For 40 years Lilian Singer has been locked up in a mental hospital by her father. Her release is eventually secured and she walks out to a world unfamiliar to her in every way, seeking the love and affection she never got. Lilian’s Story is told through a series of eerie flashbacks revealing the beautiful and spirited young woman who was anything but insane. Old Lilian comes to terms with her life quoting Shakespeare, stalking sexy bank tellers, buddying with prostitutes and ultimately meeting her long lost love.

Lilian’s Story is a vivid, passionate and inspirational story of a woman’s struggle to overcome life’s adversities.

Based on the award winning novel Lilian's Story by Kate Grenville
